Most shavers in the world today use a multi-blade cartridge shaves. In fact, most people never laid their eyes on a traditional razor. It is amazing to note that these multi-cartridge razors were introduced not that long back. But, large companies like Gillette and Schick made a conscious decision in favor of the new shave tech. The margins are much higher in new gear as the companies can keep adding blades and vibrations and other bells and whistles.
Like anything that is unfamiliar, there are myths when it comes to traditional shaving. The biggest myth is that Shaving with Traditional Razors is a hassle and a headache. Most people who shave with cartridge razors outright dismiss the idea of traditional shaving as a hassle. They "know" that all the gear, the brushes, changing blades, new soaps etc are just too much hassle to worry about. This pre-conceived notion keeps them from even trying it because it is "intuitive" much like the sun revolves around the earth or that new restaurant food is going to be great since they charge 10 times as much.
If you try looking at it objectively and give traditional shaving a try there is a good chance you will enjoy it.
